A GREAT CAKE FOR THE HOLIDAYS!
A St-Ambroise stout chocolate cake recipe:
– 2 cups of St-Ambroise Oatmeal Stout
-2 cups non-salted butter
– 1 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
– 4 cups flour
– 4 cups sugar
– 1 tablespoon of baking soda
– 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt
– 4 eggs
– 1 1/3 cup of sour cream
– 1 can of cherry pie filling
– 1 can of creamy frosting
Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter four, 8-inch round cake pans. Heat the beer and 2 cups of butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add the cocoa and a whisk until the mixture is smooth. Let cool to room temperature.
Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Beat eggs and sour cream separately. Add the cocoa and beer to the egg mixture and beat.
Add the flour mixture and stir until well blended. Pour the mixture into the cake pans and bake for 35 minutes. Cool the cake right-side-up on a wire rack.
Take each cake and add frosting and cherry filling on the top. Stack cakes one on top of the other, covering them with your favorite icing.
