Established in an emblematic location in the heart of St-Henri’s Locks district, McAuslan Distillery was born of a passion for excellence and for local products made from the finest ingredients. It already offers vodka, gin and apple brandy made from the fruit of its ancestral orchard in Frelighsburg.
McAuslan Distillery relies on the expertise and passion of a trio who have worked closely together for some 15 years, each inspiring with their own knowledge. A founder with the wildest dreams. A master distiller who has devoted his life to mastering the malting, yeasting and fermentation of cereals and fruits, to make unique creations. A maître de chez who personally oversees maturation, blending and quality at every stage of creation.
This team has developed a technique inspired by the best practices of the oldest distilleries in Scotland and Kentucky, adapting it to bring out the best in our local ingredients.
INSTALLATIONS
After a year’s research, McAuslan opted for a world-renowned Vendome system. Ideal for artisanal distillation in small batches, the equipment is configured according to the Distillery’s specific requirements, inspired by the great Scottish traditions.
The all-copper still eliminates unwanted compounds and retains the aromas and esters. Now almost forgotten, the swan neck allows better regulation of condensation, collecting only the finest compounds from the distillate. The installations have been designed without compromise, to achieve the most refined results, with sophisticated aromatic character and great consistency.

WHISKY
Inspired by the tradition and expertise of McAuslan, our whisky is the result of a delicate artisanal distillation process and aging in carefully selected oak barrels.
In past centuries, the citizens of Saint-Henri named the Côte-Saint-Paul lock: Lock 4. This lock, which faces the McAuslan distillery, naturally gave its name to the spirits produced there. Lock 4 is a fitting tribute to our history and to the immensity of our industrial heritage. Since its opening in 1825, the Lachine Canal has transformed Montreal into a hub of industrial development in North America. Thanks to this unique transportation infrastructure, numerous factories sprang up, creating several working-class neighborhoods around 1850, including Saint-Henri, where the distillery is located.

BRANDY
Handcrafted in small batches from apples grown in our own orchard, this brandy with its finely wooded aromas has been aged for 18 months in chardonnay and cognac barrels, giving it a unique character.
AROMATIC
VODKA
Distilled in small batches, this Quebec wheat-based vodka is made from grain to bottle, according to the rules of the art.
GIN
Infused with carefully selected aromatic herbs, this handcrafted gin is in the purest London dry gin tradition.
